An alliance of the Association of National Advertisers, the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the American Advertising Federation and the Council of Better Business Bureaus. The National Advertising Review Council's (NARC) mission is to foster truth and accuracy in national advertising through voluntary self-regulation.
The self-regulatory system developed by NARC supports advertiser compliance by focusing on three goals:
- Provide a fast, flexible alternative to government regulation.
- Maintain a level playing field for settling disputes among competing advertisers.
- Increase public Trust in the credibility of advertising.

Self Regulatory Programs
To ensure the credibility of and impartiality in the self-regulation system, the advertising review process is administered by the CBBB. Established to provide guidance and set standards of truth and accuracy for national advertisers, NARC sets the policies for the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the CBBB, Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU), National Advertising Review Board (NARB) and the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation Program (ERSP).
